(ongoing since 2001)
The house is split into two blocks
orientated East-West. The sleeping block is positioned
to the north acting as a buffer zone to the main living
spaces. Externally this block is read as a single
entity when seen from the surrounding landscape, similar
to the traditional narrow plan cottages throughout
ireland. The lower living block to the south maximises
solar gain throughout the day. Shielded from the elements
and public view, this block breaks from the strict
rectilinear plan and opens up its internal spaces
to its south facing gardens.
